west coast adventure.

good morning!

as you read this, i am on a plane to portland, oregon. eeee! i've heard nothing but amazing things about the city, so i am giddy to explore, check out all the independent shops, try out a new yoga studio, and wander around. (and of course, i am planning on spending a large chunk of time at powell's. yay!)

then on thursday, i am driving to seattle and the adventure will begin all over again. i'll be sure to take tons of pictures and fill you in on all the details as soon as i can.

have a beautiful day!
love and hugs

Have fun! We did the drive from Seattle to San Francisco a few years back, and I was amazed at how majestic the trees are in the Pacific Northwest. Both Seattle and Portland are two of my favorite cities.

Treat yourself to a Pearl cupcake from Cupcake Jones (in Portland's Pearl District) and a yummy, comforting bowl of macaroni & cheese from Beecher's Cheese in Seattle's Pike Place Market.

Have a great time!

Nina, you will love Portland....I sure do! Be sure to check out the Japanese Garden. It's amazing in all seasons. You'll love the Pearl district, and there is a shop called 3 Monkeys that is barrels of fun. I think it's on 23rd Street. Love your graphic, BTW. Safe travels! xo kitty

Hmm? Coffee lover? You must get a latte at Stumptown in Portland. They also have them here, in Seattle, but you can't wait until then. Perfection! Have a great time.

Oh, fun! I'm at work close to the Portland airport right now, so you'll probably drive/take the MAX right by me to get downtown. Make sure you go to Pioneer Courthouse Square (Portland's livingroom) to people-watch. There's also a cool echo chamber near the Starbucks & the chess boards that you should check out. Have fun!

Welcome to Portland! Let me know if you need any tips on restaurants, shops, etc. If you have time, the Pearl District is our shmancey part of town (Powell's Books borders it), Alberta arts district is fab shoe and botique shopping (that's where I live!), and great food is everywhere. ps: you DO know about the no-sales-tax thing, yes?
luv,

Yay you're coming to Seattle!! I feel like we should have done an apartment swap, I'm dying to go to Boston! If you love coffee you should go to Capitol Hill, up on Broadway, for the best coffee shops-even Stumptown!! Have fun! Oh, and don't use an umbrella, you'll look like a tourist haha!

Oh! Nina, if you need any recommendations for good places to eat or fun shops to check out let me know. We're going through some serious retail changes around here and shops that were once here are gone now. (It's really sad.) You can email through my google profile and I can email you back. (If you need any suggestions that is.)

You will absolutely love it! I went there the first week of January and also last August. It was kind of funny because on the flight there I sat next to a girl who looked a lot like you. What was even more deja vu-ish was that the guy she was with looked a lot like simon. I thought, "Surely not...she didn't SAY anything about going to Portland this weekend." But lo and behold, it was just a look-alike.

Two of my favorite places in Portland were Cargo in the Pearl District and pretty much all of Alberta street in the NW part. I also went to Powell's and absolutely loved it! There was so much to see that it was hard to know where to even begin!!

Enjoy your trip Nina! I know you'll love it!!

I absolutely adore Portland! My brother went to school there (Reed), so I got to visit him a couple of times. It has so much charm, and I love the strong eco-friendly vibe. I've never been to Seattle but always wanted to visit. I hear it's similar to Portland, so what's not to love!? Have a fun and safe trip!
