good morning!
as you read this, i am on a plane to portland, oregon. eeee! i've heard nothing but amazing things about the city, so i am giddy to explore, check out all the independent shops, try out a new yoga studio, and wander around. (and of course, i am planning on spending a large chunk of time at powell's. yay!)
then on thursday, i am driving to seattle and the adventure will begin all over again. i'll be sure to take tons of pictures and fill you in on all the details as soon as i can.
have a beautiful day!
love and hugs,

happy travels!!
Can't wait to hear about your trip! Those are two cities at the top of my "to visit" list. Safe travels!
Oh yes photos please and don't forget to move about on the plane. My leg still has pins and needles from my flight 2 days ago
lucky you! those are the two west coast cities i'd love to visit most
ooh - i have never been to the northwest at all but would looove to go! i do live in the boston area though :)
Have fun! We did the drive from Seattle to San Francisco a few years back, and I was amazed at how majestic the trees are in the Pacific Northwest. Both Seattle and Portland are two of my favorite cities.
Treat yourself to a Pearl cupcake from Cupcake Jones (in Portland's Pearl District) and a yummy, comforting bowl of macaroni & cheese from Beecher's Cheese in Seattle's Pike Place Market.
Have a great time!
I've heard Oregon is just beautiful!! Have a wonderful time!!
Nina, you will love Portland....I sure do! Be sure to check out the Japanese Garden. It's amazing in all seasons. You'll love the Pearl district, and there is a shop called 3 Monkeys that is barrels of fun. I think it's on 23rd Street. Love your graphic, BTW. Safe travels! xo kitty
Have fun! Yay for escaping the East Coast cold!!
i've never been either! but have always wanted to for sure. looking forward to your take on the area and the shopping and the food :) take bunches of pics. have fun! :)
Bon voyage! I've always wanted to go to Portland. I went to Seattle last summer and it was great--the West Coast is so much fun. Enjoy your adventures!
Have fun!
I've wanted to visit Portland for quite some time now!! Can't wait to hear about your experience.
have so much fun! so jealous — i've been dying to visit portland. you should check out delancey when you're in seattle — that's on my wishlist the next time i visit.
Nina! I'm so jealous- I know you'll love every second of your trip! Wishing you safe travels!
Oh I'm so jealous! I want to go to both of those cities! Can't wait to see pictures!

have fun! i love portland, and seattle - i go there almost every year!
ah yay! I live right across the street from Powell's!! I can't wait to hear everything about your stay here in my home city!!
I can't wait to hear about your adventures! I've always heard Portland is amazing. Have FUN!
Hmm? Coffee lover? You must get a latte at Stumptown in Portland. They also have them here, in Seattle, but you can't wait until then. Perfection! Have a great time.
Oh, fun! I'm at work close to the Portland airport right now, so you'll probably drive/take the MAX right by me to get downtown. Make sure you go to Pioneer Courthouse Square (Portland's livingroom) to people-watch. There's also a cool echo chamber near the Starbucks & the chess boards that you should check out. Have fun!
ya! Welcome to Seattle! Have a great time! 8)
have a fun and safe trip!
xo
NINA!
I'm in OREGON! You should have told me! We could have gotten coffee and chatted!
:) Have so much fun, get lost in Powells and enjoy your time in the PNW!
xo
oh, how exciting for you!! i have wanted to go there for years now! hope you have a fantastic time!
Welcome to Portland! Let me know if you need any tips on restaurants, shops, etc. If you have time, the Pearl District is our shmancey part of town (Powell's Books borders it), Alberta arts district is fab shoe and botique shopping (that's where I live!), and great food is everywhere. ps: you DO know about the no-sales-tax thing, yes?
luv,
-kara
Yay you're coming to Seattle!! I feel like we should have done an apartment swap, I'm dying to go to Boston! If you love coffee you should go to Capitol Hill, up on Broadway, for the best coffee shops-even Stumptown!! Have fun! Oh, and don't use an umbrella, you'll look like a tourist haha!

Have so much fun! I was just telling my sister last night how badly I want to visit Portland.
You guys are so sweet! Thanks for all the recommendations too!!
So excited for you to experience Portland I thought that my friend who lives there was biased, but after visiting I see what everyone's talking about. I can't wait for you to blog about it!
Oh have fun Nina! Seattle is wonnnnderful, I am sure you will love it! The map you made showing your itinerary is darling, too :)
have so much fun!! can't wait to hear about it! xoxo
Oh, I just took a trip to the West Coast myself! I know you will have so much fun, and I can't wait to hear about your adventures!
Oh! Nina, if you need any recommendations for good places to eat or fun shops to check out let me know. We're going through some serious retail changes around here and shops that were once here are gone now. (It's really sad.) You can email through my google profile and I can email you back. (If you need any suggestions that is.)
Hi my name is JEALOUS! I've never been to either and *SO* want to. Also I've been dying to travel lately so... yeah. Jealous. Have fun!!!
Oh, I hope you have so much fun! And I adore your little map. xo
You will absolutely love it! I went there the first week of January and also last August. It was kind of funny because on the flight there I sat next to a girl who looked a lot like you. What was even more deja vu-ish was that the guy she was with looked a lot like simon. I thought, "Surely not...she didn't SAY anything about going to Portland this weekend." But lo and behold, it was just a look-alike.
Two of my favorite places in Portland were Cargo in the Pearl District and pretty much all of Alberta street in the NW part. I also went to Powell's and absolutely loved it! There was so much to see that it was hard to know where to even begin!!
Enjoy your trip Nina! I know you'll love it!!
sounds like fun! have a great time! can't wait to see pics :)
I absolutely adore Portland! My brother went to school there (Reed), so I got to visit him a couple of times. It has so much charm, and I love the strong eco-friendly vibe. I've never been to Seattle but always wanted to visit. I hear it's similar to Portland, so what's not to love!? Have a fun and safe trip!
Have fun and be safe! :)
thanks again to everyone who commented. you guys make me so happy :)
so far, i am having a BLAST.
I am dying to travel to Seattle! Can't wait to see your pictures :)
I'm a tad bit jealous...safe travels.
Have fun. I've always wanted to visit there. :)
If you are in Seattle on Sunday head over to the Fremont Market (and stop at the troll under the bridge!).
