the blues.

do you ever get the sunday night blues?

it's the i-don't-want-the-weekend-to-be-over-because-i-don't-want-to-go-back-to-work-or-school feeling, which is often accompanied by an anxious glance at the clock in the late evening, and then full-blown grumpiness.

you say to yourself: how did it get so late? how many hours or minutes do i have left of the weekend? ugh. ugh. ugh.

i had a bad case of it last night. the only thing that made me feel better was some hot chocolate.

what do you do when you've got the sunday blues?

xo,

You could try pretending that it's not Sunday.
You may have the lingering thought of Monday in the back of your mind still, but if you try hard enough to pretend you have all the time in the world to just BE, it could save a lot of the blues!
As far as today goes, you show Monday who's boss, lady! :D

lol, love the image. I guess I just tell myself that it would be boring to have nothing but weekends all the time....? It's kind a psyching myself out of it thing!

I totally get that feeling too! Ugh, it can be a real bummer, can't it? I try to schedule something to look forward to on Monday, whether it's a yoga class, lunch with a friend, or an artist's date. I also spend my Sunday evenings getting organized for the week - making sure I have clean laundry, getting groceries, etc., so that my week gets off to a smooth start. Then, on Monday morning, I wear my favorite cozy sweater, sip chai, and take lots of deep breaths as I ease into the week. Hoping your Monday's off to a good start!

I left my job about a year ago to be a mother and for some reason I still get the Sunday blues sometimes. It's strange because my Monday "job" really doesn't alter much from my Sunday responcibilities. Sometimes I try to plan a small service project for Mondays. It's a happy way to start the week.

You couldn't not have put it better than this, Nina! Happens to me and my boyfriend every. signle. Sunday night! We try to clean up and get the clothes ready early enough so we can cuddle up on the couch and watch a nice movie before bed. :) It's helpful somewhat!

I get that feeling every Sunday, myself. I just relax, pamper myself and realize how lucky I am that I do have a job to go to. Happy Monday to you! Share a smile with someone, that will make you feel better! xxoo

I used to get that feeling every Sunday. Until the wonderful husband and I decided to make it OUR day. Now when it creeps toward Monday...I have a happy sigh.

Yes, it a sad, sad feeling. To fight it off, I usually go around like a mad woman and clean the house. A clean house makes me happy :)

Oh, Mondays....

Ooh yes, Sunday eves can suck. If it's feeling especially sucky, we drink a glass of champagne.

I can totally relate. When I used to have a job that I utterly hated, I got full-out Sunday night depression! But now that I like my job, I just try to get prepared for the week. Feeling organized and prepared always makes me feel great! (but I think you do that on Thursdays!)

i try to think about all the upcoming things that i have to be excited about. like, "sure it will be monday when i wake up, but in 5 more days it's christmas holidays for me and i don't have to work for 2 weeks!" or "well, i'm stuck at work for the next 8 hours, but the forecast says i'll be walking home afterwards in fresh snow!" and so on :) that way i don't focus on the yucky work i have to do, but the fun stuff that comes afterwards!

I get them almost every Sunday too. Don't you wish we could have Monday off too? And Friday? :o)

Augh YES. I got a major case of them late last night, too. The only way I snap out of it is to think of something I'm looking forward to. I focus on the prize!

P.S. Merci for your sweet comment re: my video. I can't wait to meet you, too!!!

As I am catching up on some blog reading, I realized we both wrote about "Sunday Syndrome." From the end of September until mid December, I am usually a bit better on Sunday evenings because my favorite show Dexter comes on at 9 pm. But now that the season has ended, I'm without. What's a girl to do? I try to do something relaxing, at least from 9 pm on. This isn't always possible, especially with deadlines for school. But when I can, I relax, what a bit of tv, read a book, sip tea, and paint my nails.

I found that watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas and A Charlie Brown Christmas cheered me up last night.

We make Sunday night dinners. I don't know why, but some how cooking together stretches the time out and makes it a very happy night. Although right now it's football season, so sometimes it's Monday night dinner instead. :)
